Finding Calm and Balance with SE Therapy
Sometimes life feels heavy. Emotions like anxiety, sadness, fear, or self-doubt can feel too big to handle.
In Somatic Experiencing® therapy (SE), we work slowly, step by step, helping you listen to your body and how it reacts to stress and negative experiences. Over time, you can start to feel lighter, calmer, and more like yourself.
In our sessions, you will find a safe and caring space. I am here to support you and help you feel in control at your own pace. With practice, you may notice small but powerful changes like feeling more grounded, more confident, and more capable of handling life as it comes.
How Somatic Experiencing® Can Help
This approach is gentle and body-focused. Instead of dwelling on the past or analyzing every detail of what happened, we focus on what your body is feeling right now as you are re-visiting the past. You will learn to notice sensations and energy in the moment, and slowly your system begins to release the tension it has been holding.
Even small shifts can make a big difference. You may notice feeling a little lighter, sleeping a little better, or simply being able to take a deep breath without tension.
What a Session Feels Like
Trauma often keeps us stuck in past events or worried about what might happen next. We start by helping your body come back to the present.
Through simple awareness of your body and sensations, you begin to bring your attention to the here and now. This is where real healing begins.
You will also learn to sit with bodily sensations. Many of us spend our lives overthinking or trying to control our feelings. Here, we focus on completing the body’s natural responses to stress, using movement, breath, and attention. This helps your nervous system reset, so tension and anxiety can finally ease.
We also explore your natural responses to stress, like fight, flight, or freeze. They are your body’s way of protecting you. By understanding them, you can turn these responses into sources of strength and wisdom.
As your system learns new ways of being, you start to feel a sense of ease and flow. You spend less energy worrying or bracing yourself and more energy enjoying life, connecting with people, or doing the things that matter to you.
You will also begin to rediscover genuine pleasure in everyday moments. You may be feeling content without needing to overwork, overeat, or distract yourself. You can learn to enjoy life in ways that feel natural and sustainable.
Over time, you begin to feel the difference between surviving and thriving. You start to see your own strength and resilience, recognizing that the challenges you faced have shaped you into someone capable, strong, and ready for more of life.
Restoring Resilience
Your body biologically knows how to move stress through the body. Animals do it naturally, and humans can too. Somatic Experiencing® helps you reclaim that ability, so you can feel calm, grounded, and ready for what comes next without piling up negative emotions and stress.
You will learn to let feelings like anxiety, sadness, or anger move through you without them taking over your life. You can experience life with more ease, clarity, and energy.
